His Excellency Dr. Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah presented his letters of credence to His Excellency, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on Wednesday, 4th March, 2026. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Kazakhstan.
Ahead of the ceremony Ambassador Jehu-Appiah who is resident in Moscow and concurrently accredited to Kazakhstan arrived in Astana on Monday, 2nd March accompanied by his spouse, Dr. Mrs. Caroline Jehu-Appiah and Dr. Abiel A. Armah, the Head of Chancery.
In line with the protocol arrangement, His Excellency presented his open letters on Tuesday 3rd March at 4.00 p.m. to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Mr. Alibek Sakenuly Kuantyrov. He was accompanied by his Head of Chancery, Dr. Abiel A. Armah.

The ensuing discussion after the presentation of the Open Letters provided an opportunity to discuss the current state of Ghana-Kazakhstan relations and explore avenues for cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, and education.
Furthermore, the warm and very cordial meeting ended with a call for the opening of a Kazakhstani Embassy in Accra to deepen political relations. In conclusion, Ambassador Jehu-Appiah made a request for an increase in scholarship awarded by the Kazakhstani Government to Ghanaian students.
On Wednesday, 4th March, His Excellency Dr. Jehu- Appiah presented his letters of credence to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Presidential Palace at 12.00 pm. The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and media representatives.
During his engagement with the President after presenting the letters of credence, Ambassador Jehu-Appiah highlighted Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expressed our interest in collaborating with Kazakhstan to drive economic growth and development.
Ambassador Jehu-Appiah’s visit to Astana and the quality of engagements with host key economic actors including the Acting Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Mr. Baurzhan Nurtaevich Zhaksylykov are intended to serve as a precursor of enhanced collaborations between Ghana and Kazakhstan.
